Within 20 minutes of Tumbleweed Lodge, the Missouri River holds one of the best migratory flights of Canada geese and ducks in the country. Each fall thousands of Greater and Lesser Canada geese, snows, blues, speckle bellies, and Northern mallards travel the Missouri River Flyway through our backyard. Depending on the flight pattern, we will call them into decoys or “shoot the pass” on the Missouri River bluffs.

The license fee is $75.00 (subject to change) and the waterfowl option is $250.00 per hunt. The package includes shotgun shells, bird plucking, and transportation to the field. Thanks in part to an agreement between private land owners in Hughes county and the South Dakota Dept. of Game, Fish, and Parks, non-residents are able to obtain a license “over the counter” instead of entering a random drawing system. We recommend booking your waterfowl hunt between the 3rd week of November and December 31st.
